Ensure equitable health services, foster healthy and resilient communities, and support government systems for lasting health outcomes — from maternal and newborn care to nutrition screening.
Education
Access to safe and inclusive quality education for all boys and girls, including children in refugee settings and displacement-affected communities.
Child Protection
Protecting children from abuse, exploitation, violence and digital harm, with strong mechanisms — including One Stop Centres — to remedy violence when it occurs.
Child Poverty & Social Protection
Child-sensitive social protection and resilience-building for communities, improving the wellbeing of children, youth and their families.
Child Rights Governance
Strengthening government and local non-state actors' capacity to deliver on children and youth's rights, and ensuring children can participate in public decision-making that affects them.
Confronting violence against children with evidence
28% of girls and 13% of boys in Tanzania face sexual violence, most often at home. Physical abuse affects 73% of girls and 72% of boys, mostly perpetrated by relatives, and about 60% of children experience psychological abuse.
The 2022 Disrupting Harm report estimated 200,000 children were subjected to online sexual abuse in 2021 — many victims unaware the abuse was occurring. While FGM prevalence dropped to 8% in 2022, it remains common in some regions, and child marriage persists, particularly in rural areas.
We respond by training frontline workers, improving coordination between agencies, running One Stop Centres for survivors, and supporting the Law of the Child Act and national action plans on child labour and trafficking.
